According to a new patent issued to Apple recently, Apple to Introduce Magnetic Chargers future iPhones and iPads could have their own magnetic chargers. The handset would be devoid of the Lightning port, which is found on all iPhones and the majority of iPads, for charging and data transmission.
The US Patent and Trademark Office this week granted Apple a patent for a new magnetic connector capable of transmitting power to the iPhone. This comes after news that Apple would eventually drop the Lightning port from its smartphones so it seems that Apple to Introduce Magnetic Chargers.
The patent shows a new kind of connector that looks similar to the iPad’s Smart Connector and even the MagSafe on older MacBooks. This connector would, according to the drawings, replace the Lightning port as a new way to charge the iPhone.
