An eco-friendly initiative is taken by Sindh’s Government. Sindh’s Government has launched Pakistan’s first electric bus.

Syed Owais Shah, Sindh Transport Minister, unveiled Pakistan’s first electric bus in Karachi on Tuesday.

Following the inauguration, he told the media that more electric buses would be added to the city’s roads in partnership with the private sector. He reported that up to 100 electric buses would be on the road by the end of the year.

Fawad Chaudhry, the Minister for Science and Technology, congratulated the Sindh government, especially Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah and his ministry, on their “remarkable move to include electric bus in Karachi Commuters system”.

He stated that his ministry fully supports the Sindh government’s “futuristic approach” of launching Pakistan’s first electric bus and hoped that the Punjab and KP governments would follow this and will introduce electric buses in their provinces as soon as possible.

Pakistan’s first Electric Vehicle Policy was approved by the federal cabinet in December of last year. Following the approval of the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) on December 16, the federal cabinet approved the Electric Vehicle (EV) Policy and the Mobile Manufacturing Policy.
