ICC Awards- Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy for ICC Men’s Cricketer of the Year

Sir Gary Sober was a former West Indian Cricketer. In 2004, ICC announced the Sir Garfield Sober Trophy to be awarded to ICC Cricket of the Year. First Trophy was awarded to Indian Player Rahul Dravid. Virat Kohli, Mitchell Johnson, and Ricky Ponting received the most number of ICC Sir Gary Sober Awards. Ben Stokes was the contemporary beneficiary of this ICC Award (2020). The International Cricket Board has recently announced four nominees for Gary Sober Awards 2021. Nominees are from Pakistan (Two Nominees: Shaheen Shah Afridi & Muhammad Rizwan), England (Joe Root), and Newzlenad (Kane Williamson). The interesting thing about this ICC Award is that it is awarded on the basis of overall Player’s Performance in International matches over all the Cricket Formats (Limited and Test Cricket).
